Biographical Information[edit]
Fred Wenz was in the big leagues for a total of 31 games over three seasons. He ended with a perfect 3-0 record, and had 38 strikeouts in 42 1/3 innings.
Fred had 12 seasons in the minors, and was successful enough in 1968 with the Louisville Colonels that he was thought to be a can't-miss prospect. He had only one game in the majors in 1968, though, due to an injury. He got eight more games in 1969, and was sold to the Philadelphia Phillies who used him in 22 games in 1970. He then decided to leave baseball to go into business. He was a successful businessman in both the liquor business and in the storage shed business. Main source: SABR Biography of Fred Wenz.
