Biographical Information[edit]
Fred Thomas was one of the three managers of the Indianapolis Hoosiers in 1887. He was the team's business manager, a local businessman whose main association with the team was to sell season tickets, but when George Burnham suddenly left the team, he was co-opted to take over as its skipper. He stayed for 29 games, before turning the job to Horace Fogel on July 11th. He returned to his regular occupation after that.
