Biographical Information[edit]
Fred Robinson, the brother of Wilbert Robinson, was seven years older than Wilbert and came to the majors a couple of years earlier. Fred's only three games were in 1884 in the Union Association, playing second base for the Cincinnati Outlaw Reds in April. His three games were the first three of the year for Cincinnati, all of which they won.
30-year-old Sam Crane became the starting second baseman for the team that year and also managed the team the second half of the season.
Fred is the only major leaguer born in South Acton, MA. His brother was born in Bolton, MA.
