Biographical Information[edit]
Fred Mollenkamp was given a chance at the majors because of an injiury to Fred Luderus, the first baseman for the 1914 Phillies. Sporting Life called him a semi-pro infielder who had previously been on the Phillies roster for a while but had been sent to the minors. Source: September 5, 1914 issue.
Fred appeared in three games in the big leagues and got one hit with two walks. At age 24, he was three years younger than teammate Pete Alexander. He also played in the minors during 1911-14.
