Biographical Information[edit]
Fred Demarais had an ERA of 0.00 in his major league career of two innings.
Robert Gibson also pitched just one game for the Chicago Colts in 1890 with an ERA of 0.00 (although he also appeared for another team that year).
Demarais was neither the first major league player from Canada nor the first major league player from Quebec, but he was the first major league pitcher from Quebec.
A post at the SABR-Quebec site (partly in French) indicates that Demarais moved to the USA two years after he was born, growing up in New Hampshire and Connecticut. He was a bartender before becoming incapacitated for a year and a half before his death. His obituary appears in the Stamford, CT. Daily Advocate. Fred Demarais
