Biographical Information[edit]

After serving in World War II, Fred Cerbo briefly played minor league ball. Pitching in the Ohio State League in 1946, he went 1-7 with a 5.55 ERA in 25 games between the Springfield Giants and Dayton Indians.

Following his baseball days, Cerbo worked for the post office and was a high school baseball coach. He was a member of the city council in his hometown of Hackensack, New Jersey prior to being elected mayor in 1981 and serving through 1989.
