Biographical Information[edit]

Frankie Martinez has pitched in the minor leagues, Mexico and the CPBL.

Martinez was signed by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1987, and he was 2-2 with a 6.27 ERA in his first year as a professional player. He struggled again in 1988 as his ERA was 5.15 in 12 games, and he was 3-2 with a 6.27 ERA for the AZL Angels in 1990. Martinez returned to the Cardinals system in 1992, and he had a 3.19 ERA in 18 appearances with the Springfield Cardinals. He was 7-3 with a 1.89 ERA for the Savannah Cardinals in 1993, and he also went 3-2 with a 1.37 ERA for the St. Petersburg Cardinals. Martinez then went 5-4 with a 2.95 ERA in 1994 for the Arkansas Travelers, and he was 6th in appearances in the Texas League (tied with Julian Heredia and Chris Hill). After having a 1.29 ERA in 11 games for the Traveler in 1995, Martinez reached AAA and he had a 3.61 ERA in 38 relief outings.

The Sinon Bulls of the CPBL signed him in 1997, and he pitched 51 games with a 3.43 ERA and 10 saves. He tied Yi-Chuan Liu for 4th in saves and 2nd in appearances. Martinez then had a 6.83 ERA in 22 games with the Nashua Pride in 1998, and he recorded a 4.00 ERA in 15 games with the Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos in 1999. He retired as a player after the 1999 season, and he managed the Tabasco Olmecas in 2000. Martinez then became the pitching coach for the DSL Mets 2 from 2013 to 2017 and for the DSL Mets 1 in 2018.
