Biographical Information[edit]
Frank Withrow was a catcher during two seasons in the majors as well as nine years in the minors. Most of his major league appearances were with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1920, for a team whose regular catcher was Mack Wheat, Zack Wheat's brother. Frank was the same age as teammate Casey Stengel.
Frank played in one of the highest-scoring games of all time (26-23) on August 25, 1922. He played part of the game for the Phillies, getting two hits and 3 RBI in their defeat against the Chicago Cubs.
He was the first major leaguer named Withrow, followed by Corky Withrow and Chris Withrow.
