Biographical Information

Frank Pearce was with the Philadelphia Phillies during parts of 1933-1935. In 1933, he went 5-4 in 20 appearances. It was a lively ball era, and his 3.62 ERA was much better than that team's 4.34. He could also hit - his batting average during three years in the majors (38 plate appearances) was .273.

Frank also had ten seasons in the minors. He got his chance in the bigs after going 20-11 for the 1932 Nashville Volunteers, for whom he also hit .307.

Pearce was born in Kentucky, as was the first major leaguer named Frank Pearce. Both had the full first name "Franklin", perhaps being named after the President, although the President spelled his last name "Pierce."

According to Baseball in Wartime, he served in the Navy during World War II.

He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
