Biographical Information[edit]

Frank McIntyre pitched three games, for a total of 30 innings, for two teams in the majors in 1883.

Frank was one of the first major leaguers born in Michigan, and through 2019 the only one born in Walled Lake, MI, a town northwest of Detroit, MI. He broke in with the 1883 Detroit Wolverines for one game, giving up only one earned run in eleven innings (along with ten unearned runs). As a result, he had the best ERA on the team that year. He then pitched for the 1883 Columbus Buckeyes of the major league American Association. In 1884 he was with two minor league teams.

Through 2019 he and Matty McIntyre are the only major leaguers with the last name McIntyre. Matty also played for a major league team in Detroit and also died in Detroit.
