Biographical Information

Frank Doljack played for the Detroit Tigers from 1930-34 and then came back for three games with the 1943 Cleveland Indians. He appeared in the 1934 World Series.

Doljack was born in Cleveland, OH and played for the Evansville Hubs in 1928 at age 20. Gee Walker and Whit Wyatt, both also 20, were teammates. After a couple years with the Wheeling Stogies, Doljack came to the majors with the 1930 Detroit Tigers under manager Bucky Harris.

Frank spent five years with the Tigers, never getting more than 187 at-bats in a season. He played a lot at all three outfield positions. Gee Walker also played on the team as a teammate of Doljack during 1931-34.

After his days with Detroit, Frank continued to play in the minors, playing for teams all over the country and in Canada.

He died in Cleveland, OH at the age of 40.

The Encyclopedia of Ethnicity and Sports in the United States says that he was a Slovenian-American. The text also mentions John Doljack, a minor leaguer born in 1904 who played for the Columbus, OH team in 1926-28, among other minor league stops.
