Biographical Information[edit]

Kansas native Frank Bushey spent five seasons in professional baseball from 1927 to 1931. He had two short bursts in the major leagues with the Boston Red Sox, making his debut on September 17, 1927 and his swan song with the club on September 27, 1930. Bushey made eleven appearances for an 0-1 record and a 6.30 ERA. He had been signed out of St. Mary's College just after graduation, having gone 9-1 in his senior year.

Frank also saw action in four seasons in the minors (1927-1929 and 1931). He was with the Lewiston Twins of the New England League in 1927, pitching 8 times with a 3-2 record before being called back to Boston in September, although this is not reflected on his BR Minors page. He had two double-digit win seasons, the first in 1928 when he built a 12-11 record with three different teams. His best year was 1919, when he was 12-5 for the Pittsfield Hillies of the Class A Eastern League. During his time in the minors, Frank was 30-25 in 115 games.

After baseball, Frank operated a grocery store and other businesses in St. Marys, KS, retiring shortly before his death. He died from cancer at 65 in a hospital in Topeka on March 18, 1972 and was Interred at Mount Calvary Cemetery in St. Marys.

His family was of French Canadian background, his last name being a variation on the more common French spelling of "Boucher", which is pronounced the same way as "Bushey".
