Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Francisco Mendoza began his professional career in 2008. He reached Triple A for the first time in 2015.

A member of the Texas Rangers chain (scouted by Rodolfo Rosario), he posted ERAs of 1.71 and 1.45, in the pitcher-friendly Dominican Summer League in 2008 and 2009, respectively, over a span of 31 games. He averaged more than a strikeout per inning in each of his first four seasons, peaking at 11.9 whiffs/9 in 2011; the next year, the number dropped to 6.4, but over the two succeeding campaigns he again averaged better than a strikeout per frame. In 2014 and 2015, his ERAs dropped below 3.00 for the first time since his initial campaigns, with marks of 2.63 and 2.16, including a 2.68 mark in his first taste at Triple A. His second try at the minors' highest level in 2016 did not go so well, as he had a 6.20 mark in 42 games for the Round Rock Express.
