The son of Nicaraguan national team mainstay Francisco Fletes, Francisco Fletes Jr. was the third baseman for Nicaragua in the 1959 Pan American Games. As his father had played in the first Pan American Games eight years prior, they likely were the first father-son duo to appear in that tournament.
