Francisco Alfino was the brother of Clint Alfino. They put up nearly identical numbers in the 2000 Olympics. Francisco was South Africa's starting third baseman and handled 16 total chances without an error. At the plate, he was 3 for 15 with two walks and five strikeouts while his older brother went 2 for 15 with two walks and five strikeouts.

In the 2001 Baseball World Cup, the switch-hitter was 1 for 11 and fielded .944 as South Africa's starter at third. He went 0 for 8 with two errors in the 2002 Haarlem Baseball Week.
