Biographical information[edit]
Third baseman Floyd Temple played and managed briefly in the minors but is best remembered as a longtime coach at the University of Kansas.
While a student at KU, Temple played both baseball and football. He then played three seasons of pro ball, also managing the Iola Indians from mid-1951 to June 1952. He was then the head coach at the University of Kansas from 1954 to 1981. During those 28 seasons, the Jayhawks won 437 games, and he coached future big league stars Bob Allison, Chuck Dobson, and Steve Renko. He was also a longtime assistant football coach for KU.
