Biographical Information[edit]
Fernando Tejeda won over 100 games in Cuba.
Tejeda pitched for Camagüey from 1985-2004. He pitched one summer for Caserta in Italy, going 10-7 with a 3.06 ERA and striking out 136 in 141 innings in 1995. He tied Rolando Cretis for 7th in Serie A1 in wins, was among the ERA leaders and was 4th in strikeouts (behind fellow Cuban Faustino Corrales, Luis Lunar and Joel Lono). He appeared for the Cuban B-team several times. In the 2003 World Port Tournament, he was 1-0 with a 1.32 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 13 2/3 IP. He tied Carlos Alberto Yanes for third in the event in whiffs. On January 22, 2004, he threw a no-hitter to beat the Industriales, 1-0. Overall, in 20 seasons in Cuba, he was 101-120 with 20 saves and a 4.06 ERA in 424 games (238 starts). In 1,800 1/3 innings, he allowed 2,064 hits and 407 walks while striking out 801.
