Biographical Information

Fausto Segura was a minor league pitcher who died in a motorcycle accident at the age of 23.

He was signed by the Washington Nationals as an amateur free agent on July 2, 2017 and began playing that summer for the DSL Nationals, going 1-3, 2.96 in 8 games. In 2018, he moved to the United States and was with the GCL Nationals but struggled to a record of 1-3, 6.60 in 7 games and 15 innings. However, he bounced back in 2019, with the Auburn Doubledays of the New York-Penn League as he was 2-0, 3.21 in 17 games, all in relief, with 33 strikeouts (but 21 walks) in 28 innings. He was still raw and had control issues, but his stuff was above average.

Segura went back to his native Dominican Republic after the 2019 season and it was there in his hometown of Barahona that he was struck by an SUV while riding his motorcycle near the city's airport.
