Fate Simms was a player in the last years of the Negro Leagues. While with the Memphis Red Sox in 1953, he was picked for the East-West Game. He pinch-ran for Tom Cooper in the 6th inning and stayed in the game in left field for the West. He was 0 for 1 with a steal in a 5-1 win.
