Fabien Proust is a former player for Team France. In the 1997 European Championship, he hit .444 to lead France while slugging .722 (third on the team). He was 2 for 14 with a double and 7 strikeouts in the 1997 Intercontinental Cup; in the field, he made 3 errors in 24 chances as a 2B-3B. He went 2 for 19 with two walks and seven whiffs in the 1999 European Championship, playing mostly outfield.
He batted .250/.306/.281 in the 2001 European Championship while finishing among the tourney leaders with 10 strikeouts. In the 2001 Baseball World Cup, he played right field without an error and had two assists for France. He hit .192/.222/.192 but that was better than the team batting average; he had 11 K in 26 AB but went 3-for-3 in steals. as the French center fielder in the 2003 European Championship, he hit .233/.324/.333 and had 15 putouts with no errors or assists. His 3 doubles led France and tied Gaspard Fessy for the most extra-base hits on the club. He tied for third in the event in doubles, one behind Giovanni Pantaleoni and Erik Pappas.
He has also served as manager and coach for the French National team.
