Biographical Information[edit]
What's a guy got to do? Eusebio Gonzalez slugged .800 in his cup of coffee with the Boston Red Sox in 1918 - albeit in only 5 at-bats. He was two years older than teammate Babe Ruth and was the first foreign-born Hispanic player to play for the Sox.
Noticed while hitting well in Cuba, Gonzalez came to the U.S. to play in the minors from 1914-1918 before his time in the majors, and afterwards went back to the Eastern League as well as to Cuba for the winter season.
