Biographical Information[edit]
Euclides Bethancourt pitched briefly in the minors, appearing in the 1999 Venezuelan Summer League and 2000 Appalachian League. The latter season, he went 1-5 with a 7.33 ERA for the Princeton Devil Rays; his 38 runs allowed tied Josmir Romero for the Appalachian League lead.
Bethancourt pitched for Panama in the 2005 Baseball World Cup and was the worst hurler on the Bronze Medal winners, giving up 10 runs (7 earned) in 2 2/3 IP for a 23.63 ERA. He allowed 6 hits, 2 walks, hit 2 batters and threw a wild pitch. He took losses against Cuba and the Netherlands; the rest of Panama's staff was a combined 8-1.
