Biographical Information[edit]

Esty Chaney pitched two games in the big leagues, one in the American League and another in the Federal League. He also played amateur and minor league ball. With both his major league teams, he was one of the youngest pitchers on the staff. With the Boston Red Sox in 1913, he was a year younger than teammate Smoky Joe Wood, on a staff where the average age was 24.5. After baseball, he worked for a railroad, eventually becoming an engineer.
