Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú

From BR Bullpen

Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú is the home ballpark of the Diablos Rojos del Mexico of the Mexican League, located in Mexico City. It is named after Alfredo Harp Helú, owner of the Diablos Rojos and also a minority owner of the San Diego Padres. It was the first new ballpark built in Mexico in almost 50 years.

The ballpark opened in 2019 and seats around 20,000. On April 18-19, 2020, the Arizona Diamondbacks were scheduled to host the San Diego Padres for a two-game series at the ballpark, the first major league games to ever be played in the Mexican capital: previous ventures by major league teams in Mexico had been in Monterrey, Nuevo León. However, the Coronavirus pandemic shelved those plans. The series finally took place on April 29-30, with the Padres hosting the San Francisco Giants. On April 27-28, the event was repeated, with the Colorado Rockies hosting the Houston Astros.

With an elevation of 7,349 feet, it is by far the highest stadium to have hosted a major league game (by way of comparison, Coors Field is at 5,289 feet).

The ballpark hosts a small museum, "Museo Diablos", dedicated to the history of the team but also to baseball-themed artworks, with most of the items having been donated by the Harp family, who are serious art collectors.
