Biographical Information[edit]

Ernie Munoz spent 5 seasons in independent baseball.

With the Coastal Kingfish in 2009, he hit .288/.354/.388 in 49 games. After not playing professionally in 2010, he hit .420/.474/.576 between the White Sands PupFish (62 games) and Chico Outlaws (4 G) in 2011. He led Pecos League in hits (103), batting average and sacrifice flies (10), was second in on-base percentage (behind Josh Cakebread's .491) and total bases (137, behind Thomas' 171), tied for second in doubles (18, behind Clifton Thomas's 23) and was third in games, plate appearances (286), at-bats (241) and runs (63). He fell to .247/.324/.330 in 28 games between the PupFish and San Rafael Pacifics in 2012, but rebounded to hit .345/.416/.451 with 49 hits in 37 games for White Sands in 2013. He also managed the club that year to a 25-40 record. He wrapped up his career with the Pittsburg Mettle in 2014, hitting .322/.333/.426 with 2 home runs and 14 RBI in 29 games.

Overall, Munoz batted .342/.400/.460 with 264 hits in 210 games. He also made 9 relief appearances, posting a 17.36 ERA in 9 1/3 innings; he allowed 21 runs in 20 hits, 8 walks and 2 hit by pitches.

He now coaches college softball.
