Biographical Information[edit]
Ernest Ellis was a minor league baseball player who played first base, outfield, and pitcher during his career which lasted from 1884 to 1889. He started off with the Salem, MA club in 1884 and his stats with them are entirely unknown. In 1885 he played for the Newburyport Clamdiggers. In 39 games, he batted .228. He was out of professional ball for a year but returned in 1887, starting the year with the Oshkosh, WI club and finishing it with the Manchester Maroons. He played for Manchester again in 1888 and batted under .250. In 1889 he appeared in 39 games with the London Tecumsehs and finished the year with a .281 batting average.
