Biographical Information[edit]

Erick Rodríguez began his professional career with the 1999 AZL Mexico club, hitting .283/.331/.283 in 39 games. He next surfaced in 2001 with the Oaxaca Warriors, batting .240 with 7 homers and 41 RBI. He hit .325 in limited action in 2002 and .257 in a bit role in 2003. In 2004, he batted .306 for Oaxaca. During 2005, the Monterrey native's batting line was .266/.303/.402. He followed that with a .289/.340/.378 campaign in 2006. In 2007, Erick hit .315/.363/.391 for Oaxaca. He slipped a bit in 2008 by batting .302/.347/.340, then hit .328/.398/.417 in 2009 while throwing out 46% of those who tried to steal.

In 2010, he hit .327/.387/.483 with only 16 whiffs in 340 plate appearances for Oaxaca. In the winter, he batted .309/.337/.346 for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo. In the summer of '11, he remained steady for the Warriors (.305/.368/.408) but had a rough winter with Hermosillo (.221/.310/.299). He batted .301/.325/.402 for Oaxaca in 2012 and .198/.284/.319 for Hermosillo in 2012-2013. He slipped on offense in the summer of '13 - .273/.316/.354. Moving to the Mazatlan Deer in the winter, he posted a .243/.281/.252 batting line. In 2014, he hit .287/.329/.352 for Oaxaca, followed in the winter by a .261/.305/.294 campaign for the Deer. In 2015, he hit .284/.318/.380 for the Warriors and he followed with a .248/.276/.303 winter season. He was 3 for 12 with two RBI for Mazatlan when they won the 2016 Caribbean Series; he split catching with Sebastián Valle, who was named the Series All-Star.

The veteran was picked for the Mexican national team in the 2016 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, backing up Xorge Carrillo. He was 0 for 3 as Mexico won a spot in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. For the 2016 Warriors, he fell to .232/.255/.292. He struggled that winter as well - .181/.196/.210.
