Biographical Information

Pitcher Eric Hetzel was signed after being picked in the secondary phase of the 1985 amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox and scout Milt Bolling.

Though Hetzel comes from a long family tradition of rice, crawfish, and soybean farming in deep south Louisiana, he may have come by his athleticism through his mother, the late Reggie Hetzel, who taught several generations of Crowley and Acadia Parish (county) children how to swim.
