Biographical Information

Enrique Reyes caught and managed in the Mexican League and has managed the Mexican national team.

Reyes hit .240 in the 1978 Mexican Center League. He resurafec in 1983 with the Nuevo Laredo Owls, batting only .159/.233/.171 in 30 games. He still won the regular job in 1984, the only season he topped 100 games. He hit .258/.307/.325 and produced just 55 runs. Reyes fell to .214/.262/.268 in 94 games in 1985.

Reyes hit .234/.299/.314 and hit a career-high 6 homers in 1986, the year of the ultra-lively Commando ball. In 1987, Enrique batted .222/.329/.278 and dropped under 90 games as he fell to a back-up role. Reyes hit .273/.367/.311 for the 1988 Owls despite a less friendly offensive environment than Mexico had a few years prior.

Reyes split time between a couple teams in both 1989 (.220/.322/.267 in 92 games) and 1990 (.204/.296/.241 in 59 games). In 1991, he hit .308/.383/.393 for his best season, appearing in 76 games for the Rieleros de Aguascalientes. Back with Aguascalientes in 1992, the veteran slumped to .208/.278/.222 in 31 games to wrap up his playing career.

Reyes was named the Mexican League Manager of the Year in 2003 after he guided his Puebla Parrots to a 62-48 record. He managed the Tigres de Quintana Roo in 2007-2008. He guided the Mexican national team in the 2007 Baseball World Cup, when Mexico's B-team topped the host Taiwan national team for 7th place. Reyes was Mexico's national team manager between two former major leaguers - Vinny Castilla (2007 Pan American Games) and Jose Tolentino (2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament).

Reyes again managed Mexico in the 2009 Baseball World Cup and the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games (when they won the Silver Medal despite most of the top Mexican players being unavailable due to the LMB playoffs). He piloted the '15 Guerreros de Oaxaca.
