Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Enemencio Pacheco had a minor league career that lasted from 1997 to 2006. He was first signed by the Colorado Rockies and after appearing in the Dominican Summer League in 1997, went 5-0, 3.99 for the AZL Rockies in 1998, also playing 2 games with the Asheville Tourists. In 1999, he combined to go 7-12, 4.67 between Asheville in the South Atlantic League and the Portland Rockies of the Northwest League. In 2000, he spent a full season with Asheville and went 8-10, 3.61 in 21 starts, logging 117 innings.

In 2001, he was a swingman, pitching once again for Asheville but also with the Salem Avalanche of the Carolina League, finishing at 5-4, 4.46 in 34 games. He began 2002 with Salem and now a full-time relief pitcher, was 2-2, 3.16 in 41 games, with 6 saves. On July 29th, he was traded straight up to the Chicago White Sox for C Sandy Alomar Jr., which would turn out to be his main claim to fame. He pitched 8 more times that year, 4 as a starter and 4 as a reliever, with the Winston-Salem Warthogs, staying in the Carolina League. He was 1-1, 4.74.

In 2003, he had by far his best season while pitching for the Birmingham Barons of the Southern League, finishing at 12-2, 2.56 in 30 games, 24 of them starts. He pitched a career high 151 1/3 innings and his 116 strikeouts were also a personal best, and was tied with Cory Stewart for the circuit lead in wins. However, he could not repeat that success in AAA in 2004, as he was 0-1. 4.82 in 15 games with the Charlotte Knights, as the White Sox moved him back to the bullpen. He also pitched a few games back at Birmingham, which is where he found himself at the start of the 2005 season. He was 0--1, 6.97 in 3 starts and was released, finding his way to the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League. In 19 starts there, he was 8-5, but with a bloated ERA of 5.97. He gave professional baseball one last shot in 2006, again in the independent leagues, this time with the Newark Bears of the Atlantic League. Things did not improve, as he finished at 3-2, 7.77 in 31 games mainly out of the bullpen.
