Biographical Information[edit]
Emil Kamar has pitched several years in the minor leagues and also appeared in Taiwan.
Kamar debuted in 1996 with the DSL Dodgers 1, going 1-1 with a 2.79 ERA. In 1999, he resurfaced in the Mexican League with the Langosteros de Cancun, going 5-4 with a save and a 4.77 ERA in 19 outings. In 2000, he pitched for two Mexican League squads, posting a miserable 2-7, 10.46 record. He averagfed under 4 innings per start and had a WHIP of 2.31. He walked (48) more than he fanned (46).
Kamar was out of the Mexican League in 2001-2002. He returned in 2003 with the Monclova Steelers, going 6-9 with a 4.66 ERA for his hometown team. He also spent part of the year with the Macoto Cobras, where he was 0-1 with a 4.91 ERA and walked 16 in 14 2/3 IP. In 2004, he fell to 2-9, 9.25 for Monclova. He allowed 97 hits and 43 walks in 59 1/3 IP as opponents had a .462 OBP and Kamar's WHIP was 2.36, even worse than his 2000 season.
Kamar went 3-2 with 5 saves, a 8.35 ERA and 2.01 WHIP for two Mexican League squads in 2005. During 2006, he improved to 11-5, 4.24 with the Puebla Parrots with 49 walks in 140 innings, a significant improvement in control. He was Puebla's second-best starter after Eric Knott.
In 2007, Kamar posted a 8-9, 4.13 record for Puebla as the team's most effective starter. He pitched for Mexico in the 2007 Baseball World Cup. He allowed 3 runs in five innings in a loss to the Panamanian national team. In relief, he allowed a solo homer to Chih-Sheng Lin in 2/3 of an inning against Taiwan. In his next start, he beat Italy, giving up two runs in five innings, including a solo homer by Mario Chiarini. The win was crucial as it eliminated Italy and gave Mexico a chance at advancing to the final eight. His last game came in the 7th/8th place against the host Taiwan national team; he tossed one scoreless inning in relief of Juan Delgadillo, allowing two hits but striking out two as well. Overall, he had gonr 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in his first trip to Taiwan in four years.
During 2008, Emil fell to 5-9, 6.77 for Puebla with 143 hits in 101 innings.
Through 2008, Kamar was 43-56 in the professional ranks.
