Elías Piña
Elías Piña is a province in the western Dominican Republic, located on the border with Haiti. Located in a mountainous area, it does not boast any large cities. The province was formerly called San Rafael and later Estrellita before receiving its current name in 1972, after an army officer killed in a war against Haiti in 1845. Its capital is Comendador and other cities are Bánica and Hondo Valle.
