Biographical Information[edit]
Ed Wiltsee played in the Chicago Cubs (1945, 1947) and Cincinnati Reds (1949) minor league systems. He hit .307 with 27 hits in 24 games for the Elizabethton Betsy Cubs in 1945. He also pitched an inning that year, allowing 7 runs. In 1947, he hit .387 with 132 hits (including his only home run) in 86 games for the Clinton Cubs. He led the Central Association in batting average and it would be the league record. He was taken by the Tulsa Oilers in that year's Rule V Draft. He did not play for the Oilers, or any team, in 1948, rather he played for the Charleston Senators in 1949. He hit .209 in 26 games for Charleston. Overall, he batted .344 with 177 hits in 136 games.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
