Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Edward Paredes made his major league debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 24, 2017. He was already 30 and pitching in his 12th professional season. The Dodgers had acquired him before the season in the minor league portion of the 2016 Rule V Draft. He was a winner in his debut, pitching a scoreless 8th inning in a 6-4 win over the Minnesota Twins. He had been called up earlier in the day when ace Clayton Kershaw was placed on the disabled list with a strained muscle in his back.

His near namesake, Eduardo Paredes, had also made his major league debut earlier in the 2017 season and pitched in 2018, also spending both years with a Los Angeles team, albeit in his case the Los Angeles Angels.
