Edward F. Wheeler
Edward F. Wheeler was a prominent American businessman in Havana before the Cuban Revolution. He served as general manager of the Western Union Cables franchise in the city.
On January 6, 1956, he headed a group that purchased the Louisville Colonels of the American Association, which was an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. At the time, there was also a AAA franchise in Havana, the Havana Sugar Kings, but they played in the International League, so the Louisville team was not a regular visitor to the island. The Colonels switched their affiliation to the Washington Senators after the sale and also moved in to a new ballpark, Fairgrounds Stadium, later renamed Cardinal Stadium, but when the American Association disbanded after the 1962 season, they simply disappeared, not joining one of the two remaining AAA circuits.
It seems that Wheeler settled down in Louisville, KY after the Revolution.
