Biographical Information[edit]

Edward Bennett Williams was one of the most well known trial attorneys in the country and owner of the Baltimore Orioles and the NFL Washington Redskins. He purchased the Orioles in 1979 for $12 million from principal owner Jerold Hoffberger and minority owners including Zanvyl Krieger. Williams also gave his law firm colleague and long-time Boston Red Sox President/CEO Larry Lucchino his start in baseball, first as team attorney and then, shortly before his death in 1988, as Orioles' President & CEO (1988-1993).
