Biographical Information[edit]

Eduardo Nunez was drafted by the Montreal Expos in the 18th round of the 2003 amateur draft from the American Military Academy in Puerto Rico. He played in the Expos minor league system in 2003-2004. When the Expos moved to Washington, DC and became the Washington Nationals, Nunez moved with them. In 2006 he joined the Kansas City Royals organization for his final season as a professional baseball player. Overall Nunez hit .209/.308/.286 while appearing in 145 games at the rookie or low-A levels.

After completing his playing career, Nunez went to college at the Universidad Interamericana de Puerto Rico and earned a degree in Physical Education Teaching and Coaching in 2012. While in college he also worked as a student instructor with the baseball team.

Nunez stayed connected with professional baseball, first as an associate scout for the Minnesota Twins in 2018-2019. In 2020 the New York Mets hired him to work as a video intern. He moved into a coaching role as the hitting coach for the DSL Mets 2 in 2021, FCL Mets in 2022, St. Lucie Mets in 2023, and Brooklyn Cyclones in 2024.

Nunez is gaining further coaching experience in his native Puerto Rico. During the 2021/2022 winter season he was the hitting coach for the Gigantes de Carolina in the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League. He returned in 2022/2023 as the team's third base coach.
