Biographical Information[edit]

Edgar Wesley was a Negro League first baseman who played from 1920 to 1927. He played his first organized baseball game with the Texas All-Stars in 1917. After playing with them, he caught a deal with the Chicago American Giants while they were still an independent club for 1918. Wesley had possibly his best year in 1925 when he hit 17 home runs, which was enough to finish second in the league for most home runs behind Turkey Stearnes. An article by the Chicago Whip refers to him as "The Tall Texan."
