Biographical Information[edit]

Edgar J. Omana played in the New York Yankees minor league system from 2001-2006. Omana played for La Pradera in 2001 and the DSL Yankees 2 in 2002, then missed 2003. In 2004, he was 1-1 with two saves and a 2.70 ERA for the GCL Yankees, fanning 21 in 13 1/3 IP. In 2005, he turned in a 1-0, 1.59 record in 9 outings for the GCL Yanks, walking 8 and striking out 17 in 11 1/3 IP. In 2005-2006, Omana was with the Aguilas del Zulia, allowing 3 runs (2 earned) in 4 innings in his Venezuelan League debut. He split the summer of 2006 between the GCL Yankees (1-0, 0 R in 3 IP) and the Staten Island Yankees (1-1, 7.85, 21 BB in 18 1/3 IP) to end his US career. He spent two more summers with his hometown Zulia club, going 0-1 with a save and a 6.64 ERA in 2006-2007, walking 20 in 19 innings, and allowing one uenarned run in 1 2/3 IP (3 G) as a LOOGY in 2007-2008.
