Eddy Rojas Sotolongo

Eddy Rojas twice led a Cuban league in hits.
In the 1984-1985 Serie Nacional, he won Rookie of the Year while with Villa Clara. Rojas played for Cuba when they won the 1985 World Junior Championship. In the 1989 Series Selectivas, he starred for Las Villas, leading in home runs (25), RBI (76), hits (100) and runs (72) for his best performance. He was with Cuba when they won the 1989 Intercontinental Cup, hitting .400 as a regular.
Rojas had 66 hits for Villa Clara in 1990-1991, leading the Serie Nacional. On January 14, 1995, Eddy tied league records with six runs and six hits; teammate Amado Zamora also scored six runs in a historic 38-run pounding of Las Tunas.
In 20 seasons in Cuba, Rojas hit .290/.361/.436 and fielded .972 (primarily in the outfield). He hit 182 home runs and 305 doubles, drove in 947 and scored 967 in 6,369 at-bats.
