Biographical Information[edit]

Eddie Smith is a college coach.

An infielder in college, Smith graduated from Notre Dame in 2006 and immediately went into coaching. He was an assistant coach at University of Virginia (2007-2011), Santa Clara University (2012), and his alma mater (2012). He got his first head coaching job with Lower Columbia College from 2014 to 2017, taking the school to the Northwest Athletic Conference championship in 2015, 2016, and 2017, winning the championship in 2015 and 2017.

Smith then moved to Tulane University as hitting coach in 2018-2019 and Louisiana State University as hitting coach in 2020-2021. His next head coaching job was at Utah Valley University from 2022-2024. Smith was hired as head coach at University of Washington for 2025, returning to his Pacific Northwest roots.

Smith was inducted into the Centralia College Hall of Fame in 2012 [1]. His wife is the daughter of longtime NFL player Nolan Cromwell.
