Biographical Information[edit]

Eddie Hohnhorst was up twice with the Cleveland Naps, in 1910 and 1912. He hit well in 63 at-bats the first time, hitting .317, and not as well in 54 at-bats his second time, hitting .204. In 1910 a young teammate also looking for playing time was Joe Jackson. Eddie's position was first base, a spot at which George Stovall was the Naps' regular in both 1910 and 1912.

He had played for Augusta in 1909, where a teammate was Ralph McLaurin. Hohnhorst was with the Toledo Mud Hens in 1911 and 1912.

Eddie died in 1916 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound while serving as a policeman. He was reportedly feeling guilty over a young boy's death in which he fatally shot and killed the youth.
