Biographical Information

Ed Rowen played three years in the majors.

Born in Bridgeport, CT, he was playing professionally by 1878 with Manchester. He was with San Francisco in 1880 and Oakland in 1881.

With the 1882 Boston Red Caps, a team which finished 45-39, he played 48 games in right field, more than any other player on the team, and also was the # 2 catcher, appearing in 34 games at that position.

In 1883 and 1884 he was primarily a catcher.
