Biographical Information

Ed Putman was a promising Chicago Cubs farmhand who never managed to land a regular job in the big leagues. A catcher in the minors, the Cubs tried Putman at first base and third base in a couple of September call-ups in 1976 and 1978. He was traded to the Detroit Tigers in 1979 but saw very little playing time there.
