Murray, born in Connecticut, had just come out of Trinity College and appeared in June. Neu's game was in July.

Murray appeared in the 1919 American Association season opener for the Toledo Mud Hens as a shortstop, batting lead-off, on April 26th against the Minneapolis Millers at Toledo's Swayne Field. Murray batted two-for-four with one run scored, one putout and four assists, with no errors, according to the box score in the Indianapolis Star.
