Biographical Information[edit]
Eddie Mayer played for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1890 and 1891, serving as a regular the first year. He also umpired one National League game in 1893.
He was born in 1865 in Marshall, IL, in central Illinois near the Indiana border. Although his major league experience was in the East, his minor league years were spent in and around the Midwest.
He is not to be confused with a later player of the same name, Ed Mayer.
