Biographical Information[edit]
Ed Gagnier was long thought to have been one of the few major leaguers born in France, but while his family came from there, he was born after they emigrated to Michigan. He played in the Federal League in 1914 and 1915. He was with the Brooklyn Tip-Tops in 1914 and with Brooklyn and one game for the Buffalo Blues the following season.
He had a long minor league career, beginning in 1904. In 1906, he did significant pitching, going 16-9 for the Lincoln Ducklings of the Western League. He played for Lincoln from 1906-1911, primarily as a shortstop, and got at least 500 at-bats each year from 1907-1911.
