Biographical Information[edit]
Ecky Stearns's best major league season was his last, in 1889. He played first base for the Kansas City Cowboys, appeared in every game, and hit .286 on a team that hit .254. He tied for the team lead with 12 triples, and he stole 67 bases.
He was the youngest player in the National League in 1880 and 1881. In 1883, he led the American Association with 34 walks.
He was a National League umpire for three games in 1881.
