East Coast Cougars

From BR Bullpen

The East Coast Cougars were a baseball team in the Australian Baseball League. They were known as the Gold Coast Dolphins before changing their name before the 1993-1994 ABL season. That year, they went 15-37 under manager Adrian Meagher, hitting only .227 as a team while posting a 5.60 ERA. They finished last in the league. They had no first-team All-Stars, though RP Bob Nilsson (0-3, 7 Sv, 3.51) made the second team.

In 1994-1995, the Cougars improved to 34-27 under the guidance of Tom Lawless. They tied the Sydney Blues for third, then fell to the Perth Heat in the playoffs. Nilsson (6-4, 8 Sv, 3.98) and OF Stuart Thompson were first-team All-Stars while OF Peter Vogler made the second team.

The club was renamed the Gold Coast Cougars following the season.
