Dylan Lindsay was signed by the Kansas City Royals in 2008, one of three South Africans to sign with MLB clubs that year (Gift Ngoepe and Hein Robb being the others). Lindsay was on the South African roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic. In the Classic, he relieved Robb with one out in the 9th against Mexico. He got Karim Garcia on a liner and Scott Hairston on a grounder to end the inning. He is slated to play in the 2009 Baseball World Cup. His lone outing was an atrocious one against the Spanish national team. Relieving Donavon Hendricks in the 5th with a 6-0 deficit, he walked Paco Figueroa. He struck out Luis Pérez then gave up a homer to Dewis Navarro. William Domero walked, then Jose Luis Riera singled. Néstor Pérez singled to make it 9-9. Emmanuel Febles hit into a force, then Daniel Figueroa doubled home two runs. Robb relieved Lindsay, who was charged with 6 runs in 2/3 of an inning after Figueroa later scored.

Lindsay made his pro debut with the 2010 AZL Royals on June 24 against the AZL Mariners. He allowed two hits and four unearned runs in 2/3 of an inning. Four days later, in his second outing, he tossed a scoreless inning against the AZL Cubs and got the win.
